Fish Fry
Ingredients:
- Fish: 4 fillets (e.g., tilapia, cod, or catfish)
- Marinade:
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic paste
- 1 tsp ginger paste
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Salt to taste
- Coating:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp black pepper
- For frying:
- Oil (enough for shallow or deep frying)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Fish: Wash the fish fillets and pat them dry with paper towels.
- Marinate: In a bowl, mix the turmeric, chili powder, garlic paste, ginger paste, lemon juice, and salt. Rub this mixture onto the fish fillets and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Coating: Set up three shallow bowls—one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten egg, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with paprika and black pepper.
- Coat the Fish:
- Dredge the marinated fish in flour, ensuring it’s fully coated.
- Dip it into the beaten egg.
- Press it into the breadcrumbs to coat evenly.
- Fry: Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, gently place the coated fillets in the oil. Fry until golden brown and crisp, about 3–4 minutes per side.
- Serve: Drain on paper towels and serve hot with tartar sauce, lemon wedges, and a side of coleslaw or fries.
