Crispy Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp baking powder (for extra crispiness)
For the Sauce (Optional):
  • ½ cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp honey or brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Wings:

    • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps them get crispier when cooked.
    • In a bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), black pepper, salt, and baking powder. Toss the wings in this mixture until evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Wings:

    • Oven-Baked Wings:
      1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
      2. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the rack.
      3. Bake for 25 minutes, flip the wings, and bake for another 20-25 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
    • Air-Fried Wings:
      1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
      2. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flip, and cook for another 10-12 minutes until crispy.
    • Deep-Fried Wings:
      1. Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (175°C).
      2. Fry the wings in batches for 8-10 minutes or until golden and fully cooked. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Prepare the Sauce (Optional):

    • In a saucepan, combine hot sauce, melted butter, garlic powder, and honey or brown sugar (if using). Heat gently until combined.
  4. Toss and Serve:

    • Toss the cooked wings in the sauce until evenly coated. Alternatively, serve the sauce on the side for dipping.
    • Serve hot with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and ranch or blue cheese dressing.
